Love Fits

The love of God is exactly what every mortal man needs. His love is so wonderful that it can meet the diverse needs of every individual. We all needed someone to pay the wages of our sin. He sent Jesus to do that. And His love fits all of our lesser needs and meets them.

Philippians 4:19: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Colossians 2:10: And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Galatians 5:22a: But the fruit of the Spirit is love . . .

Romans 5:5: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

He is willing and able to reproduce His love for others in us. Actually, it is not a reproduction. It is the real thing. He knows us well enough to know what we need and He provides whatever it is. He wants us to study others to learn what they need and meet their needs like He knows and meets ours. Our love ought to fit the needs of those around us. Too often our flesh inhibits and prevents this kind of love.

Our flesh does not want to know the needs of others. It wants to be separate from others in that regard. It does not want to study them and learn what their needs are. Hermits living in caves are an example of a lack of love. They have nothing in them that fits the needs of others and meets them.

Genesis 16:11-12: And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. 12 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man*s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

Ishmael is another striking example of a lack of love. The lack of love of a hermit is an act of omission. The lack of love of Ishmael was an act of commission. Many of his descendants are like him. They are against all men. There are multitudes of people in the world who have no interest in meeting the needs of others. There are spiritual hermits and men against all men all around us. They are unwilling to fit their time and energy into meeting the needs of others. They are selfish and self-centered. They are spiritual misfits. Much like the love of God fits all men, their lack of love fits all men. Do you know anyone like that? And even worse, do you look at a person like that in the mirror each morning?
